Two Tops You Need This Autumn

Fashion month this year has really got me in gear to add a few more pieces in my collection. If I had to describe my style when I make an effort, it would be casually put together. I like looking like I didn't spend an hour deliberating on an outfit, but still making sure everything goes together seamlessly. So when I found two exceptional pieces in Primark, I knew I had to tell you guys about it because I am so impressed. The two tops I picked up are stylish, versatile and also very affordable...

Monochrome Striped White Shirt (£10.00)

I love monochrome, and I love vertical stripes. So it's no wonder this shirt drew my attention. What I liked about it was the casual feel to it, the folded up elbows to the whole no collar vibe. I also like that the shape of the shirt is flattering for women, it's not boxy at all, and that why I've chosen to not tuck it in. Firstly, to show you guys, and secondly because I like the look of it. The material is also lovely, it's slightly thicker than it looks and so was really good at keeping me warm! It's super soft too, and so for £10.00, I think I've found a perfect shirt to style up and down! I've paired this with my turquoise Guess bag to add a pop of colour.

Khaki Pleated Top (£8.00)

As soon as I saw this top, I knew needed to have it. I'm loving the pleated look at the moment, with skirts especially, but this top looks like it can work for so many different occasions! It's formal enough to wear to work, but also stylish enough for the bar afterwards. It's a slippery, slightly stretchy material that gives a satin-like finish. I think the pleated look elongates my figure, I'm only 5'2 but this makes my torso look a bit longer. I wanted to wear black with this piece to show off the colour, and also the unique texture of the material. This look is less daring but just reliable to always look flattering!

Brand Focus: L'Oréal

Ain't gonna lie, it took me by surprise to know how little acquainted I was with L'Oréal, I've always known what they had to offer but just never really gravitated towards it. That all changed in the past three months when I finally bought my first L'Oréal product, which lead to my second... and now I have accumulated quite a few products that I really think deserve a mention! I'll talk you through my favourites...

The L'Oréal Infallible Primer Matte Base (£7.99/35ml) was one of the first few products that I purchased, and this is a silicone feeling primer, that leaves your skin smooth and ready for make-up. For me and my massive pores, this is a must! If I had to compare it, I would describe it as a mix between The Body Shop's Instablur and the Make Up Forever Step 1 Mattifying primer, it's more smooth than the former and more thcker than the latter! On the other end of the spectrum the L'Oréal Infallible Fixing Mist (£7.99/120g) is a recent addition to my collection, and I have to say I've been loving it so far! This does actually set and hold your make-up, and I have noticed that my make-up is fresher for longer and my face is less oiler throughout the day. One tip I want to share is that you shake the product properly before using it so that the powder in the bottom gets distributed in the solution!

A new product that I have been testing out is the L'Oréal Brow Artiste Genius Kit (£9.99) in the shade 'Medium to Dark' and I have been blown away by this, it's a duo that contains a wax and powder, and the colour match is pretty great for my eyebrows, as my eyebrows are a cool-toned ash brown shade The wax controls my eyebrow shape pretty nicely, and then it's easy to just fill in the gaps with the powder! Also it comes with a tweezer and a brush and spooly so you are pretty much set! After filling in my brows I set them with the L'Oréal Brow Artist Plumper (£5.99/7ml), which helps tint the eyebrows slightly and set everything in place, I love using just this product on my lazy days as it just makes everything in the eyebrow department look a lot better.

Moving onto eye's, I've mentioned the L'Oréal Volume Million Lashes Waterproof (£9.99/2ml) in a previous blog, and I am still loving this! It's great at lengthening and fanning out the eyelashes and has a great hold! On day's where I want more Oomph however, I reach for my L'Oréal Superliner (£6.99), I love how black it is! It's got a flexible nib so it's great at getting close into the lash line. I need more practice with this though! I haven't used a liquid liner in months which makes me feel like a beginner again, on the plus side, if you do make mistakes this isn't such a hassle to wipe off!

I think you can see what kinds of products I go for in this post, I love long lasting make-up and I think L'Oréal has done really well with all of these products! I really want to try their new sculpt range, so if you have any recommendations let me know in the comments!

The Glam Guide by Fleur De Force

Hey Everyone!

So as soon as I realised Fleur, from the popular blog and YouTube Channel 'Fleur De Force', was releasing her own book, I knew I had to pre-order it so I wouldn't miss a thing. Reading it these past few days (in the midst of my university work) has really been enjoyable. I really wanted to share my thoughts about this with you guys...

Fleur's book is called 'The Glam Guide' and I think what appeals to me the most about this book is that she is giving everyone her expertise and advising everyone about how they should approach topics like make-up, skin-care and fashion among other things. It's not a rule book it's a guide that can be applied to anyone however they like. Everyone can learn from this book, even myself, I found the fashion part the most appealing as I need tips on what to buy and why. That's another thing - Fleur tells you exactly why she is saying something so you can easily see where she is coming from, the book itself is very readable and relatable, like your older sister (who is amazing at everything) sharing her knowledge with you. I love that I get that experience from this book.

I think this is a great starter guide to becoming a woman (as weird as that sounds), how you should take care of yourself and the essentials of beauty. I think it spreads a very positive message, grooming versus being excessively overdone. She remembers who her audience is and so she gives recommendations of her favourite products (which I know well from watching her videos for the past 3 years), but also DIY versions and cheaper alternatives.

She created a section that explained what chemical nasties might be in skin-care and make-up products,  I found this the most enlightening as you hear what people tend to stray from (parabens) but not why. This is a nifty little section and what I liked most about it is that she didn't claim to stay away from it all, since a correlation between an ingredient and cancer does not point to causation.

The presentation of the book is amazing too, I love the rose gold metallic stars on the cover, I also love the illustrations inside the book as well as the photos of Fleur modelling for the topic she is talking about. The mix of visual and text is exactly what you need when you want to think about fashion and beauty. Everything is there for a reason.

I think the part of the book that I didn't learn that much from is the make-up and skin-care bits but honestly that's just me, these past few years I have attained the same tips and tricks on how to approach those areas. Even so, I still enjoyed reading it because I like to hear her thoughts on things, I'm a huge fan of Fleur since she is practically the reason that I got into beauty, her channel on YouTube was the first I subscribed to three/four years ago, and still to this day I still trust her recommendations above anyone else.

I think if you are into things like this - tips and tricks on how to have that balance between everything girl-related, then this book is definitely for you. I think this is a book most girls should have since it covers a lot of topics easily and with the right amount of depth too.
